Quzhou Overview

Quzhou city is situated in the west of Zhejiang Province and at the upper reach of the Qianjiang River, adjoining Fujian, Jiangxi, Anhui province, called "the thoroughfare leading to four provinces". Quzhou is a famous historical and cultural city. In the Han Dynasty, it was named as Xin’an, and as Sanqu in the Sui Dynasty. It was finally named as Quzhou in the Tang Dynasty. Quzhou, therefore, is an important city with 1800 years history in Southeast China.

Quzhou is a city with a long history, numerous resorts, various landforms and graceful hills. The Nanzong Confucian Temple is accredited as “the south Confucian Shrine” in South China, while Lankeshan Mountain is the important cradle of Weiqi (I-go) culture. The Jiangliangshan Mountain is well-known for its Danxia Peak and its narrowest pass in China. There is also the unique Sanqu stone forest in Quzhou, which was formed in the Ordovician before 500 million years ago. Besides, Quzhou is also famous for its charming Jiulonghu Lake, the foggy Qianjiang National Forest Park, the Gutianshan natural protection area with rich and dense forest resource, the Ziweishan National Forest Park with unique straits, peaks and waterfalls and the mysterious Longyou Rock Cave.

Therefore, Quzhou was titled "National Excellent Tourism City", whose beautiful scenes of green hills and blue waters can be demonstrated by Longyou Rock Cave, Jiangliang Mountain, Confucian Temple, Lankeshan Mountain and source of Qiantang River, each representing the unique feature of "saint, divinity, oddness, comeliness and mystery".
