Dali Airport lies in the Autonomous Region of Dali for Bai people which is located in the western part of central Yunnan. Dali Airport is 13 kilometers to the east of Dali City and on the joint of Fengyi Town on the eastern bank of Erhai Lake and Haidong Village.
At present, from the civilian airport of Dali, there are only flights flying to Kunming and Xishuangbanna.

Guangtong-Dali Railway is connected with Chengdu-Kunming Railway at Guangtong Railway Station. It was completed in 1999, and stretches via Lufeng County, Chuxiong City, Nanhua County, Yaoan County, Xiangyun County, Midu County, and ends in Dali City, capital of the Autonomous Region of Dali for Bai people which is a strategic region in western Yunnan.
The construction of the railway from Dali to Lijiang has already begun. The newly built Dali Railway Station is the only railway station in Dali.

Tips:
1. You can go by the through train from Kunming to Dali. There are one train every morning and three every evening. The travel will take you about 8 hours. You can take Bus No.8 near Xiaguan Railway Station of Dali and it will take you straight to the Ancient City of Dali.
2. There are also one train from Dali to Kunming in the morning, and three in the evening. Train tickets are available in the hall of the guest house of Troop No. 35108 on Jianshe Road (near Guanping Street). The opening time is 9:30-17:30
3. Train tickets to the other places in Yunnan Province are available in the ticket office, Jianshe Road No.21. The opening time is 9:00-18:00.

As far as the transportation in Dali Region is concerned, highway is still the most convenient way. The opening of Chuxiong-Dali superhighway has greatly improved the transportation conditions from Kunming to Dali.
Passenger Transport Station of Dali City is the biggest bus station. It is located opposite the shopping mall of Mingsheng. Most express-buses set out from the Station. In the Station there is an independent waiting room for the express-buses (the luxurious express-buses). The express-buses from Dali to Zhongdian set out at 9:00 in the morning. It goes for 300 kilometers and arrives at about 17:00. The travel will take you 8 to 9 hours and cost you 85 yuan. By the way, the part from Dali to Tiger Jumping Gorge (or Qiaotou Town) will last for about 6 hours, and the part from Qiaotou Town to Zhongdian, more than 2 hours. The latest express-bus from Dali to Lijiang will start at 19:00. It will go for 3 hours and cost you 50 yuan.

The Passenger Transport Service Station is the second biggest Station. Here you can find express-buses to all parts of Yunnan. The Sevice Station is very close to the Passenger Transport Station of Dali City, so you can choose the one that meets your need most.
Dayun Bus Station is the third biggest station. It is opposite the Passenger Transport Station of Dali City. Here the most inexpensive express-bus to Kunming will only cost you 50 yuan.

The Northern Passenger Transport Station of Xiaguan: there are buses to Lijiang and Zhongdian. The buses to Lijiang set out every half an hour. The latest bus set out at 6:30 in the evening. The travel to Lijiang will last for three and a half hours and cost you 38 yuan.

Tips:
1. The three biggest Long-distance Bus Stations of Xiaguan are all located on Jianshe Road.
2. There are every day long-distance buses to Dali at all Bus Stations in Kunming. In the Nanyao Bus Station not very far from Kunming Train Station, there are many buses to Dali. The earliest one sets out at 8:00 in the morning. The travel will last for about 4 hours and cost you 103 yuan. In addition, there are many private cars and most of them are Iveco. The buses from Kunming to Dali will finally arrive in Xiaguan (Xiaguan is a new city), but not the Ancient City of Dali. Out of Xiaguan Bus Station, you can take Bus No.4 to the Ancient City of Dali directly. The Ancient City of Dali is about 20 kilometers away from Xianguan. The travel will last for 40 minutes and cost you 2.5 yuan.
3. There are every day 4 express-buses from Dali to Lijiang. They start from the Passenger Transport Center of Dali at 8:30, 9:30, 14:00, and 19:00. The travel will last for about three hours and a half and cost you 50 yuan. There are luxurious buses to Lijiang at the gate of Cangshan Restaurant of Xiaguan. The latest one sets out at 14:20. There are also minibuses produced in China which are used for short-distance transportation; but they are slow and in bad conditions, and stop frequently during the travel. The latest minibus starts at 14:00. The travel will last for 4 hours and cost you 35 yuan per person. You can get on at Xiaguan Passenger Transport Station. The latest luxurious bus from Dali City (Xiaguan) to Lijiang starts from Xiaguan Bus Station at 19:00. It arrives in the Ancient City of Dali at 19:20. The ticket price is 50 yuan.
4. There are buses at Xiaguan Station to Baoshan, Tengchong, Ruili and Jinghong. In addition, there are long-distance buses at 7:30 and 11:30 every day to Liuku.

Buses
There are eleven buses altogether in the city proper of Dali. The transportation is very convenient.
Taxi
It is very convenient for tourists to get to all scenic spots from Xiaguan by taxi. In the city proper of Dali, the starting price of taxi is usually 5 yuan. 1.4 yuan will be added every one more kilometer. The starting price for Santana is 6 yuan, and 1.6 yuan will be added every one more kilometer.
Bicycles
If you just want to wander about the Ancient City of Dali, it is a good choice to rent a bicycle. Bicycles are available near the Hongshancha Hotel on the Boai Road in the Ancient City of Dali. The rent is 10-12 yuan every day. The deposit is needed.
Yachts
If you want to visit Erhai Lake, it is ideal to go by yacht on the Erhai Dock to the north of Xiaguan. The yachts always set out at 8:30 in the morning. The reference price is 70-80 yuan. It is advisable to buy the tickets one day in advance.
Tips:
1. In the city proper of Dali, only Bus No.8 costs you 1 yuan, and the others will cost you only 0.5 yuan. There is no exchange.
2.There are through buses from Xiaguan to the Ancient City of Dali, and the price of the ticket is 1.5 yuan; through autobuses from the Ancient City of Dali to the Butterfly Spring and the price is 4 yuan; private autobuses from the Ancient City of Dali to Erhai Lake and the price is 1 yuan, or you can also take a carriage to the bank of Erhai Lake and talk the price over with the its owner. You can walk to the Chongsheng Temple from the Ancient City of Dali, and that will only take you half an hour. You can also take a carriage to the Temple and the price of the ticket is 4 yuan per person, or take the autobuses to the Butterfly Spring and the price is 1 yuan. You can take the ropeway to visit Cangshan Mountain and that is 35 yuan per person; you can also ride a horse up the Mountain and that is 100 yuan every time. If you want to visit the Precious Stone Mountain from the Ancient City of Dali, you can take the bus from Dali to Jianchuan at the Passenger Transport Station in the city proper and that is 30 yuan. Then you have to transfer to the buses from Jianchuan to the Precious Stone Mountain and that is 10 yuan.
3. Most taxies in Dali City do not have a meter. Within the city proper it will usually cost you 6 to 7 yuan. If you want to get to the Ancient City of Dali, it will cost you about 25 yuan. Remember to talk the price over with the driver before you get on.
