"Girl Chase" is a traditional activity on festivals for the Kazakh youths to express their love to lovers. On the beginning of the festival, young man on horseback will side by side ride with the lady of his choice on horseback to the far away hill. On the way, the young man can make jokes or confess his love to the young lady. However, the girl cannot get pissed off no matter she is willing to or not, and she should let the young guy keep talking.

When it's time to turn back, the lad should be cautious about the whip on the lady's hand. If the lady is inclined to the young fellow, she will hold the whip high then snap it gently. If not, she will snap the poor guy fiercely. Interestingly, the guy is not allowed to fight back, and he should try hard to keep his hat on the head. The dropping of his hat means his loss of dignity. Therefore, chased by the lady, the guy will try to run away desperately. This is so-called "Girl Chase".
