Bank of china take most travell'er's cheques.
RMB20000 is allowed for taking in and out of China.
You can use your credit card at ATM upon arrival at Beijing airport and exchange for RMB in Bank of China. You may also change back your origional currency at the airport while exiting China in either Guilin or Shanghai. But be sure to show your water memo from the time you change for RMB.
Both RMB and Hong Kong dollar is okay in Hong Kong, but it is more convient to use Hong Kong dollar.
