Penghu Liehtao

Introduction to the scenic spot:

Penghu Liehtao is located in the south of Taiwan Strait and it is made up of 64 small islands. Its area is about 126 square meters. In the Liehtao there are many ports and islands are spread out irregularly. Penghu Liehtao is very important on its military strategic location. It is the natural boundary between the East China Sea and the South China Sea. It is a place of strategic importance for military commanders. Penghu Liehtao is also the cultural medium and cultural vehicle between mainland China and Taiwan. Considering the islands including Penghu Liehtao, there are two main island groups. For the south island group, it is located in the south of Bahzao Watercourse and there are Wangan Island,Qimei Island, Hua Island, Mao Island, Dongji Island, Xiji Island, Cao Island,Nanyun Island and others. Almost all the above islands are volcanic islands. Their stones are basalts which belong to the Quaternary Age in earth geologic history. For the north island group, it is located in the north of Bahzao Watercourse and there are the Penghu Island, which is the largest island among all the islands and Xiyu Island, Baisha Island, Jibei Island, Hujing Island, Tongpan Island, Dachang Island, Jin Island, Mudou Island and others. The scenic spots of Penghu Liehtao are very beautiful and excellent. For example, the sight of Penghu lights in fishing boat is one of the eight most famous scenic spots in Taiwan. Sights like Fengjuwei billow sound,Wangan basalt and others are also very famous.

The business of fishery scenery is a key travel business in Taiwan. Penghu fishing port occupies 1/3 fishing ports in Taiwan. 60% of the local people depend on fishing. Sail boats and jalors are spread out on the whole Penghu Liehtao. When the evening comes the sight of Penghu lights in fishing boat is very charming, which looks like stars embedded in the sea and they are so magnificent that they are listed as one of the eight most famous scenic spots in Taiwan.

Magongshi is the transportation hinge to Penghu County. There is a road round Penghu Liehtao between Magongshi and Xiangxi Village. And the road connects west Xiyu Island through a cross-sea bridge. It reaches the end of Xiyu Island, which is near Fengjuwei Island. Along the road there are many great scenic spots. A tourist can visit them by bus from Magongshi in Penghu County. The travel needs about 20 minutes. Magongshi is the transportation hinge to Penghu County. There is a road round Penghu Liehtao between Magongshi and Xiangxi Village.
