Three Gorges Trip

Described by author Pearl Buck as "the widest river on earth" it is now hard to equate this statement with the placid waters which now reside upstream from the soon to be completed Three Gorges Dam. Maybe in the summer when in full flood the river does to live up its name but in May-sailing was a "stroll in the Park"for our ship's captain.

Yangtze River Cruise trip

Karen and I took the opportunity to embark on our Yangtze Cruise trip during the Chinese National Holiday from Oct. 1st to Oct. 7th. Starting our trip from Guilin, we flew into the big industrial city of Wuhan in Central China on the Yangtze River. It offered a pleasant surprise with clean street and riverside greenery and was totally different to the picture which we had in our minds.
