Sigou Valley Scenic Area is 12 kilometers far away from Huanglong Valley. It is a spacious ancient glacier valley. The entrance of the valley is a spacious terrace. Huanglong town lies in this valley.
The altitude of this scenic area is 2700 meters to 4200 meters. The landform here is very changeable. There are high unique peaks topping to the sky. And there are spacious beaches as well. The primitive forests and glaciers keep the original looks from ancient times up till now. Sigou Valley Scenic Area has totally different style with Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area, although it is the closest scenic spot to Huanglong.
Farmland Scenery
On the plain hillside, there are pieces of farmlands of pink buckwheat and green highland barley. The fence made of round wood extends to the primitive forest along the soil road. Folk Tibetan Dwellings scatter along the soil road in a proper order. Under the light blue smoke, there are groups of cows and sheep. The phenomenon appears as if people lived in the middle age.
Huanglong town is a small town. It lies in the deep mountain. It is very characteristic. The nationality at this town is mainly Han nationality, who settled down here from inner land. In order to fit with Tibetan lives, their customs of residence style and eating now are almost the same as the Tibetan people, after a long time living here. However, for daily customs, they still keep the habit of Han Nationality. So people can see the unique folk custom here. If visitors want to be guests at local people's home, they are always treated kindly. They are invited to drink a cup of buttered tea, or a bowel of highland barley wine, and then they can go out for a walk along the farmland by riding a horse.
Relics of Geology
In this area, the main natural scenery is the primitive forest, which was formed in the Fourth Period of the Ice Age. The fountainhead of the valley is made of unique glacial landform and the scenery of earthquake geology. Visitors would be shocked by the huge steps of sudden landslip and some fault rocks. Besides, there is scenery of deserts in high hills. They are the relics of "the concentrated earth movement of Himalaya" in ancient time. It is the paradise for those visitors, who love science and adventure.
Forest Farmland
The watershed is the spacious grass farmland. Looking over the watershed, visitors can see the splendid lakes formed by glaciers, and the boundless primitive forest, etc. The famous Long'an Horse Path in the northwest of Sichuan passed here. Thus, there are many wide paths left at present. In recent years, visitors generally get off the bus, then ride a horse or walk on foot to enter the valley, so that to enjoy seeing the natural scenery of the primitive forest and grass farmland better.
