Chinese people believe that hard beds are good for your health so the beds are hade this way. Even though there are many foreign tourists coming to China the majority of tourists in China are domestic tourists. The hotels cater for their biggest market.

Well, not always the case, if you choose to stay in 4 star up hotels, they usually have soft beds.... they are so soft that the Chinese choose to sleep on floor.
