Are the carvings and pictures in Yungang Grottoes repainted in recent years?

Though I search a lot of information, I don't know whether the colors of the pictures and the carvings in Yungang Grottoes were painted when they were made or they were repainted in recent years. It will be very grateful if anyone could give me the answers.

As far as I know that the colors of the carvings and the pictures in Yungang Grottoes were painted when they were made. Most of their colors have faded away.
