Zhongwei is situated in the western part of Ningxia, and at the confluence of several railway lines. Baolan, Ganwu, and Baozhong railroad lines go through Zhongwei. Zhongwei is also a central railway station connecting the Northwest and the East. It is a very important transportation hub in the Northwest. Trains bound for Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’ning, Huhehaote, Xi’an, Yinchuan, Lanzhou, and Chengdu, and so on go through Zhongwei. Generally speaking, the communication in Zhongwei is rather convenient.

Zhongwei is situated in the Mid-western zone of Ningxia. It is geographically superior. It is a major route of transportation on the frontier. As a transportation junction, Zhongwei not only plays an important role in the communication in Ningxia, but also enjoys an immovable place in the whole northwest region. Three state highways, GZ25、GZ35、GZ45, going through Zhongwei link up Xinjiang, Hexi Corridor and the eastern regions, and form an east-west transportation network that connects Zhongwei and its surrounding regions. While Yining highway, Zhongjing highway, 109 state highway, and Zhonghao expressway are also transportation ties joining Zhongwei and other areas.

Public Bus

The public bus route in Zhongwei is highly developed. You may get anywhere in the city by taking a public bus.

Taxi

You may take a taxi in the city. The starting price of taxi in Zhongwei city varies from 3 to 4 RMB. The main types of car are station wagon and Xiali. If you go from Zhongwei to Shapotou by taxi, it is 30 RMB one way. Zhongwei city has opened a special line for tour. At present, there is special line from Zhongwei to Shapo. The bus leaves every half hour. The ticket is 3 RMB. It takes you about one hour to get there.
