The city of Tieling, locating in the north part of Liaoning province and the middle part of Song liao Plain, is one of the fourteen cities whose municipality is under Liaoning province government. It has an area of 13,000 square kilometers and a total population of 2,941,000, including the urban population of 381,000.
Mountain area generally takes up forty percent of Tieling, water area ten percent, farmland forty and roads and fazenda ten percent. The eastern mountain area in Tieling is the tail of Mountain Changbai. Mountain Bingli, Mountain Chengzi, Mountain Jiguang and Mountain Longshou are the main base of the industry basing on forests in Tieling where trees grow richly, and wild animals and plants are various. The middle west part of Tieling is the plain that mainly lies in Liao River drainage area. It has flat and rich land yielding, various common crops and economic ones.
Tieling is also one of the major hawthorn fruit zones in China. Kaiyuan County is the national hawthorn fruit production base, Xifeng County and Tieling County are the provincial hawthorn fruit production bases.
