Chessboard Mountain gets its name because on the mountain there is a rock on which a board of Chinese chess was carved. On the top of the mountain a pavilion (called Wanghuting in Chinese) was built for enjoying the sight of Xiuhu Lake at the foot of the mountain.

Now, cables and chutes are also built on the mountain.It only takes you 20 minutes for a round trip. It is a favorable place for sightseeing in Shenyang City.
