It is a branch of the Yangtze River. As the proverb going, "beautiful Qing River, beautiful Qing River, and its beauty lies in the water of Qing River." Qing River Geheyan is the main canyon in Qing River where the hydroelectric power station has been built, with an island in the middle which is made of ten thousands of ocean waves and groups of mountains. Pingluo Gorge, Bashan Gorge, Ban Gorge have become the famous Three Gorges in Qing River within the boundaries of Changyang.
Pingluo Gorge
It is 10 kilometers from Gehe Rock of Jinyangkou District to Wuluo Zhongli Mountain of Duzhenwan District. Pingluo Gorge, with green hills and rows of screen-like mountain peaks, as well as mists and ripples of the river, is the longest one among Three Gorges in Qing River. The surface of the gorge is quite smooth, with the boats interlinked from year to year. Entering into the gorge, you can see white sail piece by piece running freely on while blocks of rafts along river down, accompanied by the barcarolle all the way. Thus it is sung that "there is one song after another in the 800-li Qing River, and every song comes after one chant of the boat worker."
Bashan Gorge
It was called Hanguan in ancient times, which starts from the narrows in Duzhenwan District to the east and reaches Xiwan on Machi District to the west, with a length of 5 kilometers. Here the mountains stand upright, grand and steep, with the water as smooth as the mirror. There are some unusual stones which look like lion, elephant, dragon, tiger, snake, etc. in Qipan Cave and Bayou Cave of the gorge.
Companion Gorge
In the exit of the gorge are two mountains which stand in the south and the north side by side, one is elegant and the other is majestic, just like a couple who are together from morning until evening, thus it got its name. The whole gorge is 5 kilometers long in all from Zhaolai River to Dragon Pond. The scenes in the gorge include: Three Attractions of the Companion Gorge, namely, the first one is Thin Knife Ridge (it has steep mountains and thin peak); the second one is Lion Cave (there is a lion-like stone, with the spring flowing swiftly from the crotch of the stone lion.); the third one is the hot spring in Salt Pond.
