According to the experts’ research, it was formed due to the long-term chemical dissolution of the soluble rock in surface water and ground water. Golden Lion Cave has a history of over 1million years, so the scenery here is quite complete, with delicate material.
The name of Golden Lion Cave came from a stone which looks like a powerful and mighty lion in the cave. The stone in the cave looks quite like a lion not only in form, but in spirit, and the only shortcoming is that it has no tail. As to this tail, it is said that the cave was originally the paradise where there should be no mosquito. With the time passing by, this tail got to lose its function of driving away mosquito. There are various natural stone sceneries such as stalactite, petrophone, and the most distinctive one is Shi Ping, which has divided the main hall into some halls of different size.
There are some water-dropping columns all year long, and you will feel very smooth if you touch it by hand. According to the analysis of the experts, the stalactite like this is just in its infancy time. No matter you turn back to watch it or look up at it, from the top to the foot, Shi Ping, which connects sky and earth, is a Chinese wonder, with biggest height difference of over 39 meters.
Another feature is that there is a new scene when you walk one more step, with glittering Pearl Cliff and clanking stone implements, which constitute a grand underground palace.
