This scenic area takes the Lianghekou in the convergence place of Gaolan River and Xiayang River as the center, with an area of over 20 square kilometers. Not far to the north is the Shengnongjia where it was said some savage coming and going.
It mainly has a 15-li-long ravine, with straight and beautiful mountains in two sides. In the ravine runs a limpid brook, beside which is a smooth highway. Tourists can watch the scenery in two sides while walking along the road, or take a bus slowly, appreciating the views around, which shares the same wonderful feeling with traveling in Lijiang River by boat. Lijiang River is called scenery decorated corridor while Gaolan is also the one. The only difference is Gaolan has less water, thus with no boats here. However, the mountains here are more changeable and beautiful.
The mountains here are verdant, with some gigantic trees growing on the peak. Between the cliffs, there are some small waterfalls and springs. Only one rain can make hundreds of flying waterfalls directly lashing the mountain stream, very rare!
You can also visit the Former Dwellings of Qu Yuan and Wang Zhaojun in Zigui as well as Quyuan Memorial Hall along the Yangtze River out of Zigui County when you visit Gaolan Scenic Spot.
