Yichang is a lively city on the south bank of the Yangtze River. It is one of the terminus for a Yangtze Cruise from Chongqing. The city looks very tidy and new. The Yangtze River goes through the center of city with either of its banks covered with verdant trees.
Yichang has been thrust into the world limelights since the beigining of the Three Gorge Project. The base and the project and the dam is around 45 minute's drive away from the city.
Yichang is rich in natural resources including hydro energy, minerals, forest. Loal specialties include tea, sweet orange, leaf tobacco, fragrant fungus, auricularia auricula, Chinese chestnut, and is the main production area of tea and sweet orange in Hubei province.
