Lying in the northwest of Hubei Province and middle reaches of the Hanshui River, the name of Xiangfan is formed from the merger of Xiangyang and Fancheng. Xiangfan is on the east edge of the Jianghan Plain, adjoining Sichuan, Shanxi to its west, Hunan, Guizhou to its south. Xiangfan City, which is a transition belt from the second step of the staircase to the third step of the staircase in China’s topography, is in an irregular square shape. The west of Xiangfan is a serried mountainous area of Jingshan Ranges and Wudangshan Ranges, while the east is a foothills area surrounded by Dahong Mountain and Tongbo Mountain.
