Hubei has a subtropical monsoonal climate with distinct seasons, humid and hot summer, dry winter and the transitivity of the south and the north climates. It is hard to predict rain or shine in spring, and plum rain happens at the end of spring and the beginning of summer with endless and suffocating rainy days. It is uncomfortably sticky in summer and reaches the highest temperature in July and August. But in autumn it is clear and crisp, blue and cloudless, and it is an ideal season for travel. The winter is dry and cold so it isn't fit for traveling in mountains, especially for the pedestrian journey. The traveler should try to avoid the snowy and foggy days.
