Most grand hotels in Hong Kong have entertaining places like bar which is delicately designed and decorated. The well-known ones are Captain Bar and Shanghai Club. And some contain disco dancing room and top DJ and sound. The opening time for them is from 10:00 at night to 3:00 or 4:00 in the following morning. Generally speaking, they are more crowded on weekends and the costs are also higher. Except those in grand hotels, there are still lots of independent bars which usually run from noon to 1:00 at midnight or later. British bar, Portugal bar and Japanese Karaoke serve snacks all around the day.

Soho(South of Hollywood)is the best place for dining in Hong Kong, which is especially crowded on weekends and in summer when many restaurants and coffee cafes have tables and seats outside.

Bars in Kowloon are more practical than other’s, and the most popular one is Ed Kelley's Last Stand which has its own band. On the same road stands Amoeba Bar also with its own band but of different style. Many local fans come here to listen to Cantonese popular songs. Mad Dog's is obvious a western bar where lots of foreigners like to spent their weekends.

Bahama Mama's on Knutsford Terrace has good atmosphere and is visited by all kinds of customers. It becomes a club on weekends.

Schnurrbarrt on Prat Avenue is relatively quiet and offers German bear and food. The Biergarten on Hanoi Road is also pretty good.

Bars and restaurants in Wanchai and Causeway Bay attract people of different fields and the local people seem to prefer the popular atmosphere here. There are still some relatively low-level bars around.

Wall Street on Lockhart Road is a restaurant serving various beer and wines. You can pay before you leave and the price is changeable according to the degree of busyness on the spot, which is similar with Wall Street’s stock.
