Brief Introduction to the scenic spot:

Jingpo Lake is located in the southwest of Mudanjiang city with a total area of 1,200 square kilometers. It is the famous beauty spot in the north of China and a summer resort. In fact, Jingpo Lake was once the ancient river way in the upper reaches of Peony River. About ten thousand years ago, the largest Yansai Lake in our country was formed because of the volcanoes’ eruption in this area. Jingpo Lake, narrow and long, is 45 kilometers long from the south to the north and the widest distance between the west and the east is 6 kilometers. About ten thousand years ago when the volcano’ erupt, the magma truncated the Peony River and the Jingpo Lake was then formed. The lake is 350 meters above the sea level. The deepest place of the lake is over 60 meters and the shallowest place is 1 meter. The surface covers 90 square kilometers with about 1.6 billion cubic meters of water capacity. The whole lake consists of North Lake, Central Lake, South Lake, and Upper Lake with a total area of 90.3 square meters. The lake runs by twists and turns with S in shape and the lake flows from the southwest to northeast. There are many fleets beyond the lakeside and lots of islands and islets of various sizes in the lake. The most famous eight views in the lake like eight shinning pearls are embedded in the ribbon floating on a boundless green, namely, Diaodhuilou waterfall, Dagu Mountain, The Xiaogu Mountain, BaishiLizi, Chengqianglizi, the Pearl Gate, Taoist Priest Mount and Laogulizi. Jingpo Lake is primitive and natural with a unique beauty. Mountains and rivers perfect to each other and the paths are meandering and quite. What is more, the touching legend adds a mysterious color to the renowned northern lake. Some villas and tourist facilities stand on the northern peninsula of the lake, which is the center of Jingpo Lake-------Jingpo Mountain Villa. In addition, there are few buildings around the lake but chains of mountains and verdant forests which takes on a beautiful scenery of nature and it is what makes the Jingpo Lake attractive. Standing on the highland of Jingpo Mountain Villa and looking into the distance, the crystal lake extends to the sky with no waves just as a mirror.

Edition HistoryEdit Tips:
Tips:
(1) The best seasons for touring are from June to September every year. In this period when the water level is the highest around the whole year, the average temperature is 17.3℃ and the waterfalls are especially spectacular. Because of little wind, the lake has no waves, which makes features of Jingpo Lake especially prominent.
(2) Jingpo Lake is an abundance of aquatic products, teeming with crucians which are also known as “Lake Crucians”. The crucians are fat and meaty, and the fresh is tender. Sometimes, one crucian may weigh 1 to 1.5 kilograms. The crucians can be boiled or cooked with soy, very delicious. In ancient times, crucians were once serviced as tribute paid to the royalty. The price for reference is 40-50 Yuan per kilogram. The more expensive lake fish will cost 70-80 Yuan per kilogram, and the cheapest carp costs 18-25 Yuan per kilogram. However, the price will change when the market price changes. In addition, Jingpo Lake produces over 40 kinds of fishes, such as Aohua fish, silver crucians and red tail fish and so on. So touring around Jingpo Lake, what one should do is to enjoy a fish feast. The restaurants in local area will charge an additional 10 Yuan and it is better to ask the price clearly because they won’t explain to the tourists ahead of time.
(3) Steamer ticket (only for reference): in midseason, if you would like to tour around part of the lake, Dagushan will be your farthest destination. It takes you one and a half hours for a round trip and the fare is 30 Yuan per person. If you want to get a view of the whole lake, Daoist Mountains will be your farthest destination. It takes you three and a half hours and the fare is 50 Yuan per person. However, if you choose to take a yacht, it is better to offer 150 Yuan to the driver and 100 Yuan in off-season. There still are enough tourists even in off-season, at least six to seven, to sail in the morning generally as long as the surface of the lake does not freeze. However, there are no tourists in the afternoons of off-season.
(4) The mid-season is from May to October. Most of the restaurants have to close down beginning from the last part of October, so it is not convenient for you to make a trip from November to April in the next year.
(5) Transportation: the tourists can take a coach from Mudanjiang or Dongjing County to the boarding area in Jingpo Mountain Villa thoroughly. In mid-season, there are 12 regular buses available from the Dongjing County in the north to the scenic center every day and 2 buses set out at one time respectively from Dongjing County and scenic center traveling for nearly 1 hour. The buses are available from 7:30 to 15:30 setting out from Dongjing County, one hour every other (buses are not available at 10:30, 11:30, and 14:30) and from 7:00 to 16:30 setting out from Jingpo Mountain Villa, one hour every other (buses are not available at 11:30, 12:30 and 15:30). In off-season, generally speaking, only two regular buses are available, at 7:00 and 13:00 from the villa to Dongjing County. In addition, there are two lines of special tourist buses setting out from Mudanjiang city to Jingpo Lake every day in mid-season and they all set out in the afternoon at 13:00 and 18:00 from the villa. In off-season, no special buses for touring are available.
