Tips:
(1) The Peace International Airport is 35 kilometers away from the urban area of Harbin. You just spend 20 Yuan in taking the airport bus. It takes you about 50 minutes to arrive. The bus terminal is the Civil Aviation Mansion (No. 99, Zhongshan Road) via the Kang’an Road, the Tongda Street, the Harbin Industry University, the railway station and the Wenchang Road.
(2) The tourist map of Harbin can be bought in the ticket office of airport bus. You might as well buy one. It is easier to travel if you have one.
(3) If you take a taxi from the airport to the urban area, the charge of single trip is about 110 to 130 Yuan ((including road maintenance costs).
(4) The starting station of the regular bus from the urban area to the airport is located in front of the Central Ticket Office of the Civil Aviation (No. 99 Zhongshan Road). One departs every half an hour. The telephone number of the service is 0451-82896432. At the Xingyang Road Ticket Center (No.30, Xinyang Road, Daoli District), it’s possible that there are regular buses to the airport. The number of the consulting telephone is 0451-84506688. At the parking lot in front of the exit of the railway station, there is a regular bus to the airport at 6:30 A.M.. If you want to take this bus, you’d better check it.

Harbin is the second largest railway junction in Northeast China, ranking just below Shenyang. Five railways- the Jingha Railway, the Binsui Railway, the Binzhou Railway, the Binbei Railway and the Labin Railway link here. There are two passenger railway stations, namely, the Harbin Railway Station and the Harbin Eastern Railway Station. The former is the main transfer station connecting all trains via Harbin. The latter is the terminus for trains both departing, and arriving in Harbin. There are many trains in Harbin. People can take trains to all parts in the province and many main cities in Northeast China and in the east of Inner Mongolia. There are trains which run from opposite directions. People can takes trains to many large and medium tourist cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hankou, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Yantai, Dezhou, Xuzhou. They travel day and night. People can take the bullet-headed high-speed trains traveling between Harbin and four other cities in Heilongjiang Province -Qiqihar, Mudanjiang, Suihua and Jiamusi.

The No.102 National Road( the Jinha Freeway0, the No.202 National Road( Heihe-Dalian), the No. 221 National Road( Harbin-Tongjiang) and the No. 301 National Road ( Manzhouli-Suifenhe) radiate in all directions. They can get to all the places in China. There are three freeways in the province. They are the Harbin-Daqing and Qiqihar Freeway, the Harbin-Mudanjiang and Suifenhe Freeway as well as the Harbin-Jiamushi and Hegang Freeway. Apart from these, there are dozens of long-distance bus lines. People can get to all important towns in Heilongjiang Province or some cities near the province.

The Harbin Port is listed as one of the eight important inland harbors in China. It’s also the largest inland ports in Northeast China. There are two ports at present. One is the passenger port (located at the Qidao Avenue in the north of the Daobei District). The other is the freight port (located at the Sankeshu in the Taiping District). Many routes have been opened in the Passenger Port, such as, from Harbin to Jiamusi, from Harbin to Beilaozhou, from Harbin to Zhaoyuan, from Harbin to Qinghe, etc.. However, these routes are only in operation from April through to the early November. In addition, there are three ferry lines. They connect the urban area of Harbin with the Sun Island. Harbin offers convenient and quick water transports for visitors from home and abroad.

Bus
The public traffic system in Harbin city is relatively perfect. There are more than one hundred public traffic lines, including the bus lines, the trolleybus lines and the through transport lines. Harbin has basically formed an extensive and convenient bus network. In order to meet with the need of visitors’ tour, two special tourist routes are opened successively. One departs from the Flood Control Monument and runs to the Sun Island. The other passes several tourist spots in the downtown area. They contribute to the tourism of Harbin. Most of the buses are self-service, so passengers have to prepare enough small changes before boarding. The fare is one to two Yuan per person.
Taxi
The price of Harbin's taxis is according with the labels of the car. Usually, the price of the taxi with a Xiali label is 7 Yuan for the first three kilometers (about 1.86 miles) and then 1.6 Yuan for every additional kilometer. The price of the taxi with the Jetta label is 8 Yuan for the first three kilometers and 1.9 Yuan for every additional kilometer. The price of a taxi with the Chery label is 7 Yuan for the first three kilometers and 1.9 Yuan every additional kilometer. If the distance is over 12 kilometers, passengers must pay 50 percent surcharge.
