Li River, Taohua River, Mulong Lake, Guihu Lake, Ronghu Lake and Shanhu Lake make up the scenery area of Two Rivers and Four Lakes. Guihu Lake, Ronghu Lake and Shanhu Lake dates back from the Song Dynasty. The place where the Mulong Lake is was ever a piece of land. To recover the beauty of the round-the- city water system, Guilin municipal Party committee and Government decided in 1998 to connect the lakes, clean the river bed, build bridges and repair roads. The project of Two River and Four Lakes was started at that time. The Two River and Four Lakes nowadays connect rivers and lakes with various attractions. The lake banks are paved with slabe covered in lush trees, convenient for travelers to walk and enjoy the scenery. The night scene of the lakes and rivers are particularly charming when the area is colorfully lit. At night, cruise bottles shuttle to and fro on the lakes, travelers and local strollers walk around , folk artist give performance on the lake bank to passerby.
