Railways

At present, there are four railway trunk lines such as Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou and Beijing-Jiulong lines passing through Dongguan City, with 13 transport stations for carrying passengers and goods. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen railway which passes through such towns as Shilong, Chashan, Hengli, Changping, Zhangmutou, Tangxia and Fenggang is 56 kilometers long. The Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou railway which passes through Changping and Xiegang is 23 kilometers long.

Highways

The main highways passing through Dongguan City are as follows:

Guangzhou-Shenzhen Highway, stretching from Guangzhou to Shenzhen, is 57.7 kilometers long in Dongguan City, passing through 7 towns such as Zhongtang, Wanjiang, Guancheng, Huangchun, Houjie, Humen, and Chang’an.

Guancheng-Huizhou Highway, stretching from Guancheng District to Huizhou, is 60.54 kilometers in Dongguan City, passing through six towns including Fucheng, Liaobu, Dalang, Huangjiang, Zhangmutou, and Xiegang.

Guancheng-Shilong Highway, starting from Guancheng District, passing through Chashan, and reaching Shilong, is as long as 14.2 kilometers.

Dongguan-Shenzhen Highway, starting from Qiaotou and passing through 5 towns such as Changping, Zhangmutou, Tangxia, Fenggang, and Bao’an, is 46.2 kilometers long in Dongguan City.

On the whole, thirteen first-class cement highways, with a total length of 268.3 kilometers, are networked with five main highways in Dongguan City, which makes it convenient to travel to the city at any time.

Waterways

In Dongguan City, there are 82 navigable waterways with a total mileage of 598 kilometers. The main waterways include the trunk stream of the Dong River, Dongguan Waterway, Taiping Waterway, Mayong Waterway, Zhongchang Waterway, Daoyunhai Waterway, Dafenbei Waterway and Hanxishui Waterway.

Bus

The bus network of Dongguan City is so fully-developed that it covers the whole city. You can easily reach anywhere in the urban area by bus and go from the urban area to the surrounding towns by city bus.

Taxi

More than 3,000 taxies are running in Dongguan’s thirty-two districts and towns. There are three basic charges for a taxi: 5 yuan, 6 yuan and 7 yuan, as to which, 1.8 yuan, 2.0 yuan and 2.4 yuan are charged respectively for every one more kilometer.
