Brief Introduction to the city
Quanzhou is located on the Coast of East Sea and faces Taiwan across the sea. With a long history, it is one of the historical and cultural cities firstly approved by the State Department. It has highly developed maritime traffic and has been one of the four largest foreign trade port of China as early on as Tang Dynasty.
By the end of 1997, Quanzhou has a total population of 6,460,000, predominantly Han Nationality, of which 218,000 are from urban areas. It has an uneven population density, which is high in areas on southeast coast and low in northwest mountain areas.
