The Wuxian God of wealth temple near Guang’anmen enshrines the Wulu God of Wealth. Pray for the blessings of the God of wealth during the Spring Festival there has long been an important tradition of the Beijing locals. On the second day of the Chinese New Year, people strive to be the first in the temple and offer sacrifice and burn the incense stick for the God of wealth, wishing that they would be favored by the God of Wealth and thus make a big fortune in the year to come. After offering sacrifice, the prayers bring home some paper-cut Chinese characters of “福” (good luck) and “寿” (longevity) home or paper gold brick. This tradition is called Inviting Good Luck and Wealth Home.
